Walt Disney's director bought shares

The officers and directors of a company tend to have a unique inside view into the business, so when these insiders make purchases, investors are wise to take notice.

Presumably the only reason for a company insider to choose to take their hard-earned cash and use it to buy stock in the open market, is that they expect to make money — maybe they find the stock very undervalued, or maybe they see exciting progress within the company, or maybe both.

Within the 30 components of the Dow Jones Industrial Average, only ten companies have experienced such buying over the trailing six month period, one of which was Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS), where an investment totaling $99.9K was made by Director Maria Elena Lagomasino.

Maria Elena Lagomasino, 68, is the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Partner of WE Family Offices, an office serving high net worth families, and has held these positions since March 2013. Ms. Lagomasino served as Chief Executive Officer of GenSpring Family Offices, LLC, an affiliate of SunTrust Banks, Inc., from November 2005 through October 2012. From 2001 to 2005, Ms. Lagomasino was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of JPMorgan Private Bank, a division of JPMorgan Chase & Co., a global financial services firm.
